This game project with middle ages architecture I was start in the beginning of 2014. So, I start from knight's grave. After that, I was built gothic basilica.
In this video, I capture some parts of this work.
I use traditional way for create nextgen model of stone surfaces. After blocking out raw modeling I sculpt detailed surface as possible as I can. I retop final lowpoly model and wrap UV. I bake hipoly to low in textures like diffuse, normals, curvature, o
In this model progress I create testable substance procedural processing for textures creation.
I use Substance Designer for texture processing. And use Marmoset for rendering this images.
This testable game model needed for Me and my client, cause we need to know how its content must be look like in next stages.
My client was happy with this model and give me green light for great Basilica model.
I start from blocking out building wall. Separate segments for sculpting.
For sculpt process, I create stone blocks and projectile them to surface.
After projectiling process, I create cracking alpha brushes for crack painting.
Central part of wall have bas-relief. For this I was create alpha image and project to surface. For decoration, I use same method.
I bake textures in Modo on that project.
Here is baked ambient oclusion textere on low poly model, in Modo window.
For that texturing I use Substance Designer. I paint basic coloring, moss masks in Modo and add them to substance processing.
I try to use my own surface shader for Unity, where I write colored specular light model. It's not needed for final result in Unigine game engine, but I must see some result in engine.
It's interesting for me. How deep I can dive in next gen process. For me, as casual artist is not typically.
In this process I start thinking about modular assets, cause this staff is almost modular.
So, it's not photoreal, but I tried to do something interesting and rich detalised.
I almost finished one wall of basilica ruins after two month from start. May be its long time or not. But it's not finished, cause my client's money is over.
